| December 2005 - Three Stallions Inn, Vermont |
|
| November 2006 |
Winter is coming, the first snows will be here soon. This year Mary and I would like to return to the small Vermont inn where we took the photos to the left. The Three Stallions Inn was a wonderful retreat from the work life. We stayed for just three days, but the time was wonderful. It was just after christmas 2005, we drove there after visiting Mary's mom and dad in Syracuse. Leaving Mary's parents it was raining steady. I kept hoping that when we reached the green mountains we would see snow.
Our plan was to spend a day cross-country skiing and as yet we had not had any significant snowfall. The ground was bare. Driving across the Hudson river into Vermont the air was still above freezing and the rain had already washed out whatever early snow cover the mountains had. As we pulled in the rain was picking up. It looked like we would not get our cross country ski trip in this year. To bed at midnight and still just rain. We awoke to 6 inches of new snow and a clearing day. The skiing was wonderful. Now in 2006 we are just making our plans for this winter. Family, dinners and skiing at the Three Stallions Inn. Soon we will book our stay, this year I will plan on mid january, so we are not throwing the dice for snow.

Look for an update in December or January as I write some entries for my trip to the Grand Canyon. Eventually I would like to add entries on my other adventures, Biking across America, Living in Australia, Backpacking in Africa, Touresting in Mexico, and as Mary and I spend more time together our joint adventures. For now thou this is all I have for you. |
