this period of history is better understood and relics, ruins, documents and accounts from this period still exist.

DATE
Region
>400
Far Northern Forests - This uncivilized region is the home of many monsters and goblin tribes. It is a place of unrest and the source of problems for the Kings Below who has built a series of fortresses and citadels to hold back the wilds.
>400
Kings Below - A well run, if fundamentally evil, kingdom that reaches from the northern forests and mountains, east to the Savozen peninsula, west to the Kadin Region and south to the land of the Saventhal lords.  The kingdom contains over 1 million inhabitants and has thriving cities and ports.

Interaction with other civilizations at this time
o Saventhal Lords: The relation is strained and the border is militarized, closed and tightly patrolled by both countries.
o Kadin Beast Masters: Relations are mixed and marked by temporary alliances and periodic small wars.
o Lords of War: intermittent trade and little exchange of culture
o Tipan Empire: Good relations, ambassadors have been exchanged. Trade between the two civilizations is robust with the Kings Below exporting, Magic, Furs, Fish, Gold and Silver for finished goods, fine silks, magic, gems and exotic goods and art.
o ElfKin:  Intermittent contact with hostility common. If an elven realm is discovered by the Kings Below it is invaded and the elves and their allies are eliminated. The hostility between these races is open and bloody
>400
The Beast Masters of Kadin - Barbarians with a strange affinity to magic and animals, The Beast Masters of Kadin will on occasion ally with their neighbors for some short term objective, but in the end the barbarians prove to be unfaithful to any contracts and treaties. The land remains wild and has never been fully explored. There are persistent rumors and tales of the ruins of a great city on the far side of the mountains, a place where a once mighty civilization held sway.

Interaction with other civilizations at this time
o  All bordering Nations: Relations with all bordering nations are strained. The Beast Masters are difficult to interact with in a predictable way. The culture of the Beast Masters does not place strong values on international relations and is more driven by the immediate needs of each individual or tribe.
>400
The Saventhal Lords: The kingdom of the Saventhal lords is strong and well organized. Religion, Magic and the Arts are flourishing. At this time the Saventhal lords rival the Tipan Empire in magic, arts and culture. The kingdom does not have the military might of the empire on land but at sea the navies of this kingdom are strong and range far and wide trading with distant nations and tribes.

Interaction with other civilizations at this time
o Kings Below: The relation is strained and the border is militarized, closed and tightly patrolled by both countries.
o Kadin Beast Masters: Relations are mixed and marked by temporary alliances and periodic small wars.
o Lords of War: Periodic small wars occur on the border but most of the time trade and cultural exchange is occurring. The difficulty the Saventhal Lords have with the Lords of War is that there is no single counter party to discussions and trade. Each of the War Lords controls their own cities.
o Tipan Empire: Good relations, ambassadors have been exchanged. Trade between the two civilizations is robust with the Kings Below exporting, Magic, Furs, Fish, Gold and Silver for finished goods, fine silks, magic, gems and exotic goods and art.
o ElfKin:  Relations are good. Many of the elven tribes interact often with the Savental and some of the greatest advances in art and magic have occurred through exchanges with these strange but magical people
>400
The Lords of War: During this time the lords of war are divided amongst up to 20 major holdings with frequent battle and conflict as alliances shift from year to year. The time is characterized as a time of honor, when a mans worth is in his word.

o Tipan Empire: In the south the TiPan border cities of Fez and Bantur are heavily garrisoned.   These cities will come under periodic attack by the lords of war over the next 100 years but they are only captured once and were not held by the Lords for more then 2 years.
o ElfKin:  The elven people are in the hills and forests but they only rarely interact with the lords of war, most often seeking to stay uninvolved in any conflicts and shunning the culture of the war lords
>400
TiPan Empire: The Empire is well established in the south with the major port city of Efison dominating trade in the region. The empire is robust and peaceful in the east with much of the empires focus and energy being expended on campaigns in the west as they battle the confederacy of Antion for supremacy.

The forgotten and unknown past

In the very distant past some scholars and religious groups describe the region as a time of heroes and mighty kingdoms, a time when the gods intervened in daily life much more then today. Remnants of these kingdoms are missing or at least hard to identify and other scholars describe this region of the world as being un-inhabited or controlled by monsters and small tribes. How civilization actually arrived here is of great debate.
